Mucosa-atrophy
or shrinking of the intestinal mucosa
The most important circumstance with allergies is the atrohpy of the
villous and mucous organ, as the illustration shows systematically.
As soon as the mucosa is being distroyed, the finger-shaped villi shrink
and very important defence mechanisms, the Peyer's Plaques, become atrophied.
These are being used for the production of defence cells. If these for
the whole organism important immune mechanisms in the intestinal mucosa
and the Peyer'schen
Plaques fail, then the other, though not so mighty defence organs
- tonsilles, adenoids and appendix - have to "help". This
leads inevitably to local problems.
